I am a fourth grade literacy teacher at Mary Scroggs Elementary School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I’ve been teaching since 2004 in both fourth and second grade. This past August I married my wonderfully supportive, wonderfully loving husband. And in November, I received my National Board Certification.
About two years ago, I became especially interested in the teaching of writing. I’ve read countless books on best practices and workshop models and find it’s the most tiresome and rewarding part of my day.
I’m writing this blog for several reasons. First and foremost, it’s to practice what I preach to my students (and so they can see it). It’s also for me to develop my craft and get serious about writing. After all, I do plan to become a published author several times over during the course of my life.
